Wichita Language Survey

Volunteers Needed for Research on Language Revitalization

The Tribe recently endorsed and approved a study on language revitalization and also a Wichita language archive being conducted by OU graduate student Sapphire Hodges. The study seeks the thoughts and opinions of enrolled and descendant tribal members about language revitalization and the Wichita language archive.

Participants are asked to fill out two surveys. The archive survey is six questions and takes about five minutes to complete. The language revitalization survey consists of 20 questions and will take about 20 minutes. You must be affiliated with the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and be at least 13 years old to take a survey. If you are under 18 years old, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to participate. Your thoughts and opinions will help inform and improve these activities for the community.

You may fill out a survey online: https://ousurvey.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bPeFPRmXdA3JOjH

Paper surveys can be found and returned to the Wichita Administration Building. Paper surveys can also be mailed to Sapphire Hodges at 2053 W. Lindsay St. #G, Norman, OK, 73069. Surveys must be completed by September 20, 2017.

Your identity will be kept anonymous but information may be used in a master's thesis by OU graduate student Sapphire Hodges. You may contact Sapphire at sapphire.l.hodges-1@ou.edu with questions or concerns.

This study has been approved by the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and the Institutional Review Board at the University of Oklahoma.
