EDUCATION

Higher Education:  The Higher Education program is to assist Wichita tribal members with funding for tuition, fees, books, room & board while attending college.  Requirements are that the student must be accepted to a college or university, full-time (12 hrs. or more), and Pell eligible.  Additional documents to be submitted are; H.S. transcript or official college transcripts, tribal I.D., letter of intent, application and college acceptance letter.  Students who receive assistance are required to maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or better and enroll in 12 credit hours or more.  Pell eligible students will be awarded first, non-pell eligible may be awarded as long as funds are available.

Job Placement and Training:  The Job Placement and Training program will provide Wichita tribal members with a bi-weekly stipend assistance for attending a Vocational or Technical Center.  The stipend is for mileage and meals, based on attendance.  Eligibility requires that you reside in the service area, (Caddo, Kiowa, Greer, Tillman, Cotton Counties or the City of Lawton), enroll in a 1 or 2 year course, and have your H.S. diploma or GED.   Students are required to apply for Federal Assistance Student Financial Aid (Pell grant), and be accepted into the program of your choice.  Additional documents to be submitted are; tribal I.D., social security card, birth certificate, personal references, etc.

Adult Education:  Funding is available to Wichita tribal members required by employment, to enhance their job skills and/or obtain their GED.  Tribal members must reside in the service area (Caddo, Kiowa, Greer, Tillman, Cotton Counties, and the City of Lawton).  Additional documents to be submitted are; tribal I.D., and documentation from the training source and/or study sight (GED preparation only) you wish to attend.  Students are responsible for submitting a certificate of completion and grades at the end of your training.  GED students are required to submit test scores.

Johnson O’Malley:  The JOM program is for students enrolled in Gracemont Public School only.  Students in Pre-K through 12th grade receive assistance in the following areas:  school supplies, athletic shoes, cap & gown, ACT tests, tutoring assistance, and incentive program (honor roll & attendance).  Students must be enrolled with a federally recognized tribe or at least ¼ degree of Indian Blood.

Motor Fuels Tax Revenues:  The Higher Education program has received assistance from the MFTR funding.  This funding is to assist full-time graduate, college, and vocational/technical students.  High School graduates and GED students will receive an incentive for completing high school requirements.  Funding is on a first come, first serve basis for all MFTR assistance.
