Burial Assistance

BURIAL ASSISTANCE

(Guidelines)

 

The Burial Assistance Program for the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes was created to provide financial assistance in meeting the necessary burial expenses for enrolled members of the Tribe.  All tribal members whose name appears on the roll, and all those eligible for membership with the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes at the time of their death, will be eligible.  Applications for assistance must be filed within ninety (90) days following the decedent's death by the next of kin or other person responsible for burial arrangements.  The application must provide information on the decedent.  A certified death certificate and a copy of the signed bill from the funeral home must be provided.  Guidelines will be reviewed on an annual basis and the Wichita Executive Committee will make adjustments, as deemed necessary, to the actual amount of payment.

 

Allowable costs:

  • Transportation of the body from the point of death to the point of funeral and/or burial
  • Casket and vault.
  • Preparation of body and funeral services.Cemetery charges-Grave Marker/Headstone
  • Cemetery Plot
  • Opening and closing of grave or costs of cremation
