SPECIAL DIABETES PROGRAM


The Special Diabetes Program goal is to promotion of healthy lifestyles for tribal members and the community, through activities involving education in the risks, effects and complications of diabetes; in self-care management, proper nutrition and physical fitness.

SPECIFIC SERVICES PROVIDED:
(Enrolled members of the Wichita & Affiliated Tribes and federally recognized non-indigenous Diabetics living within our 10 county service area.)

Wichita & Affiliated Tribes Special Diabetes Program holds an annual “Spirit Walk” to promote awareness of the risks of Diabetes. This community walk is held on the Saturday morning of our annual pow-wow. Registration is at 7:45 a.m. with the walk starting at 9:00 a.m. All tribal members here for the annual dance are encouraged to attend.
