The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Administer and operate the
2% Transportation Planning under the guise of a P.L.93-638
Contract. The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes have operated
this program since our first contract in 1995. Current
funding for this contract is channeled from the Federal
Highway Administration via the State Transportation
Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The basis for
our funding was developed by the Tribes, B.I.A. The State
and Federal Agencies and includes criteria that guide our
funding, the following is our guide: Population, Vehicle
Miles Traveled, and cost to construct or improve.
The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes have the responsibility of
overseeing the compilation of roads inventories, census
Data, and contract submission. The road inventories are
approved through the executive committee and are determined
by our office as needing repair, construction, or
Reconstruction of roads and bridges.
