988 Lifeline
Wichita and Affiliated Tribes 988 Tribal Response Program
The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes 988 Tribal Response Program is dedicated to improving access to culturally responsive crisis services, suicide prevention, behavioral health support, and community education for Native individuals and families throughout our service area.
Our program works alongside the state and national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifelines to help ensure American Indian and Alaska Native callers can be connected with culturally informed care and local tribal resources whenever possible. We believe that healing begins with connection, compassion, and honoring the unique strengths of our tribal communities.
Our program focuses on increasing awareness of mental health, reducing stigma, strengthening partnerships, and expanding access to behavioral health services through outreach, education, and prevention initiatives.
Our Services
The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes 988 Tribal Response Program offers:
- Referrals to tribal and community behavioral health services
- Suicide prevention education and outreach
- Resource navigation and follow-up support
- Community engagement and awareness activities
- Collaboration with local partners to strengthen crisis response systems
Need Help Now?
If you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress, a mental health crisis, substance use concerns, or thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 to connect with a trained crisis counselor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, let the counselor know and request the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes 988 Tribal Response Program to help connect you with culturally responsive support and local tribal resources whenever available.
Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT)
Mental health education saves lives.
Through our Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) initiative, we provide evidence-informed training opportunities that help community members recognize the signs of mental health challenges, respond confidently during a crisis, and connect individuals with appropriate support.
We are currently gathering community feedback to better understand what trainings are most needed throughout our communities. Whether you’re a parent, educator, healthcare professional, first responder, youth leader, tribal employee, or community member, your input helps us develop trainings that are meaningful and responsive to local needs.
Take our Community Training Survey:
Your feedback will help shape future training opportunities, including topics such as:
- Mental Health First Aid
- Suicide Prevention and Intervention
- Crisis Response
- Other community-identified behavioral health topics
