Vision Statement:
The WATVR is committed to providing Native Americans with disabilities, and the tribes we serve, vocational focused services to improve their quality of life. The WATVR will assist individuals to obtain gainful, meaningful employment, which will provide stability and enhance future generations.
Mission Statement:
This program is designed to provide vocational rehabilitation services, which include culturally relevant services, to American Indians with physical and mental disabilities who reside within our service area. These services shall be consistent with the eligible individuals' strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests and informed choice, so that the individual may prepare for and engage in meaningful, gainful employment which promotes self-sufficiency.

ABOUT ME: Adrian Smith began his career in Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in 2014 with the Apache Tribe Vocational Rehabilitation Program. He then went on to work with the Delaware Nation Vocational Rehabilitation Program from 2015 to 2021 also as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Mr. Smith was hired by the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes as the Program Director for the Vocational Rehabilitation Program in January 2022. He currently is on the Leadership Committee of the Consortia of Administrators For Native American Rehabilitation (CANAR). Adrian obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 2012.

Vocational Rehabilitation Program
The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Vocational Rehabilitation Program assists American Indians with disabilities in finding employment opportunities.
We serve six counties (Blaine, Caddo, Canadian, Grady, Kiowa and Washita---see map below) to provide your rehabilitation needs.
Examples of these services include Counseling/Guidance, Assistive Devices, Mental Restoration, Physical Restoration, Evaluations, and Vocational Training.
In order to be eligible for The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Vocational Rehabilitation Program, the following requirements must be met:
- The participant must be an enrolled citizen of a federally or state recognized tribe.
- The participant must have a medically documented physical, cognitive or mental disability.
- The Participants impairment must constitute or result in a substantial impediment to employment.
- The Participant can benefit from VR services, which will lead to gainful employment.
- The Participant requires VR services to make preparations to, enter into or retain high quality employment, that will increase self-sufficiency.
- The Participant must reside with the service area of The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Vocational Rehabilitation Program which includes Blaine, Caddo, Canadian, Grady, Kiowa and Washita counties.
- Can assist HS students 16 and older with IEP Planning and Transistion Services
Please note: an individual may qualify to participate in more than one Tribal VR program at a time, as well as the state VR, and/or VR services with the Veteran's Affairs' Rehabilitation services (there are 2 different VR Programs veterans might be eligible for).
