Veterans Report for the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Released

Jan 3, 2024 | Wichita Tribal News

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes held a Veterans Event on November 2, 2023 to kick off the creation of the Wichita Veterans Program in FY-2024. Seventeen (17) Wichita Veterans provided input on the needs of Veterans, how the Tribe could better recognize Veterans and how we could encourage more Veterans to participate in activities to help us build the best program for our Wichita Veterans.

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes created a survey, for those out of state and that could not attend on November 2, 2023, that was sent out in December for input. The Wichita Veterans participating in the survey, who did not attend the in person event, were eligible for the incentive given out on November 2, 2023 for participating provided that they returned a completed survey, DD-214 and picture.

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes will use photos and information from November 2, 2023 to create a website page for enrolled Wichita Veterans and active military to provide their information for the creation of a database for Veterans. It was a good day as we continue our initiative for FY2024 of “Building Community” to build back community and give our tribal members and tribal elders more spaces to rebuild relationships in a post pandemic world.

-Terri Parton, President of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes
