Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Holds Veterans Event

Nov 2, 2023 | Wichita Tribal News

11/02/2023 – The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes held a Veterans Event today to kick off the creation of the Wichita Veterans Program in FY-2024. Seventeen (17) Wichita Veterans provided input on the needs of Veterans, how the Tribe could better recognize Veterans and how we could encourage more Veterans to participate in activities to help us build the best program for our Wichita Veterans.

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes will be creating a survey, for those out of state and that could not attend today, that will be sent out by the end of the month for input. The Wichita Veterans participating in the survey who did not attend the in-person event will be eligible for the incentive given out today for participating provided that they return a completed survey, DD-214 and picture.

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes will also be using photos and information from today to create a website page for enrolled Wichita Veterans and active military to provide their information for the creation of a database for Veterans.

Today was a good day as we continue our initiative for FY2024 of “Building Community” to build back community and give our tribal members and tribal elders more spaces to rebuild relationships in a post-pandemic world.
